The case

Amid wartime disruption, a US-based gaming company needed to urgently relocate five Belarusian IT specialists from Ukraine. Acvian managed the team’s relocation to Cyprus, securing entry visas and work permits through the EOR model. The transition ensured compliance and provided the specialists with a safe living and working environment.

Employees relocated: 5

Time saved (as opposed to other transition scenarios): 4-6 weeks to a few months

The challenge

A US-based gaming company had a team of 5 IT specialists in Ukraine, all holding Belarusian citizenship. Following the onset of the full-scale invasion, the client needed to relocate the team internationally. In this urgent situation, the company had to select a European destination that issues work permits for specialists with Belarusian passports. This was complicated by the impact of the war in Ukraine on embassy and consulate operations in Belarus, as well as the country's domestic policies. Many European states no longer accept Belarusian citizens who want to relocate for work.

The solution

With our help, all 5 employees acquired the right of entry to Cyprus on a tourist visa or type D visa through an online application. Once the visas were issued, the employees arrived in Cyprus and applied for a long-term work permit through the EOR (Employer of Record) model. Our specialists were in charge of the entire immigration process.

The outcome

The team successfully relocated to Cyprus, with Acvian serving as their new legal employer under the EOR model. The client company thus ensured them a safe living and working environment in the new country.

Relocating a team of expats and hiring them through an EOR partner saves companies valuable time and resources that would otherwise be spent coordinating multiple external agencies. Acvian’s immigration support services include case-specific consultations, identifying optimal visa pathways for employees and their dependents, and comprehensive administrative assistance from our on-site team.

Old client here! Been collaborating with Acvian for 2 years and employed people in 12 countries with their help and saved a lot of resources. Didn’t have such a positive experience with our previous PEO provider. Very pleased with the quality of service and expertise Acvian offers.

Firstly, let me describe the project: our company was a client for 6 months and hired a local worker (hourly contractor) with EOR (which we never used before). The employment process was much faster than we expected, for the duration of the project all was punctual, no problems, with a polite way of communication.

We aimed to enter a new EU market and decided to use an employer of record service before opening our own entity. Acvian helped us with staff hiring, employment contracts and payroll processing.
